The promotion of new research through the fusion of space science and earth science is one of the significant roles of ISEE. For this reason, under the leadership of the Director of ISEE, the "Office for the Development of Interdisciplinary Research Strategy" was established in August 2022 to vigorously and strategically promote diverse fusion research in collaboration with researchers from related fields. The Office for the Development of Interdisciplinary Research Strategy plays a leading role in constructing new research strategies from an interdisciplinary perspective, based on the achievements of fusion research conducted by ISEE so far and specialized research conducted in various fields, while utilizing a variety of collaborative use and collaborative research programs carried out by ISEE, as well as collaborative research projects with related institutions, under the cooperation with the related community.

In the Office for the Development of Interdisciplinary Research Strategy, along with the Director and Deputy Director of the institute, we have placed the heads of three affiliated centers responsible for the foundation of collaborative use and collaborative research (Center for International Collaboration Research, Center for Integrated Data Science, and Center for Orbital and Suborbital Observations) and one foreign faculty member from the Center for International Collaboration Research to handle practical affairs as room members. Additionally, we have newly recruited two specially appointed faculty members to handle practical affairs in conjunction with the Center for Integrated Data Science and the Center for Orbital and Suborbital Observations, who have been appointed since April 2023. Furthermore, in addition to these Office for the Development of Interdisciplinary Research Strategy faculty members, the Office for the Development of Interdisciplinary Research Strategy Operation Committee is organized with in-house faculty members (several from the Basic Research Department), faculty members of related departments (School of Engineering, School of Science, School of Environmental Studies, School of Information Science, affiliated library, Future Materials & Systems Research Institute, and the Museum), and external members (one each from the Operation Council and the Collaborative Use/Collaborative Research Committee), to advance the formulation of new fusion research strategies encompassing a wide range of fields.
